Wonderful new Seat Covers in the Bird Blind
by the Naturalists

We are always so grateful to the volunteers in our community that help to make our parks and facilities shine! The latest of such amazing projects, completed by volunteer Chris Olney for an Iowa Master Naturalist capstone project, are these lovely seat covers for the bird blind in Kent Park. We’ve been dreaming of chair covers with pockets for bird guides for a few years, and now, we finally have them – far lovelier than we could have imagined! They are even complete with a separate notebook pocket for leaving memos of each visitor’s experience! Thanks Chris!

Did you know that the bird blind in F.W. Kent Park is open year round, anytime the park is open? We even keep binoculars in the blind for public use. If you have never visited, you can find the bird blind in the northeast corner of the park, on the far edge of the Conservation Education Center parking lot.

[By the way, the blind is handicap accessible.  A paved walkway from the parking lot to the blind.  Once inside the windows are of a height that will accommodate wheelchairs.  RJH]
