Nesting Sandhill Cranes at Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge

Ken and Alice Atkinson are very involved in Johnson County Conservation. Alice is President of the Conservation Board. Both have served on Board of the Friends of Johnson County Conservation.

One of the places they visit often is Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge. On a recent trip, while hiking one of the dikes, they spotted a Sandhill Crane nest. While they were watching, the crane stood up, revealing an egg.  Ken captured this image
